The project
VISION is a choreographic piece created for five blind or visually impaired performers, at the intersection of dance, music, performance, and sport. In a society dominated by the visual, VISION proposes a reversal of perspective: a world where dance is experienced differently, with tactility, sound, and collective solidarity placed at the heart of choreographic writing.
The project explores new ways of inhabiting stage space without relying on sight. From its inception, it integrates accessibility tools for blind and visually impaired audiences—particularly through audio description and a multisensory stage language.
The research phase began in 2024 with residencies at Montpellier Danse, Marseille Objectif Danse, and the Comédie de Genève. The creation continues from October 2025 to June 2026, with residencies at 3bisF in Aix-en-Provence, Le ZEF in Marseille, Montpellier, and other partner venues.
In parallel with the creation, workshops are held with blind and visually impaired amateur participants, notably in collaboration with UNADEV in Marseille and the association Aix en Vue. Some of these participants may join the final cast, reinforcing the project’s inclusive, participatory, and grounded nature.
The premiere is scheduled for June 2026 at Montpellier Danse.
By supporting VISION, the Francis Kurkdjian Endowment Fund backs a project that makes the invisible visible, reinvents the codes of the stage, and invites us to rethink the boundaries of perception in service of an open, accessible, and deeply human art.
