The project

Two projects led by CCN – Ballet de Lorraine, from choreographic creation at the Grand Palais to dance workshops for women experiencing vulnerability.

With Danser pour soi & Lonely Club, the CCN – Ballet de Lorraine continues its commitment to a form of dance that is at once demanding, accessible and deeply human. Led by Maud Le Pladec, these two complementary projects affirm the power of movement as a space for creation, rebuilding and connection.

Danser pour soi is an artistic and social outreach project developed with women dancers, educators and choreographers. It is aimed at women experiencing vulnerability or who have been victims of violence, supported by organisations providing assistance, community centres, women’s centres and accommodation facilities. Through dance sessions, exchanges and opportunities to discover the world of the CCN – Ballet de Lorraine, the project seeks to give participants essential resources for rebuilding their lives: reclaiming ownership of their bodies, developing self-esteem and confidence, and rediscovering the pleasure of dancing.

To enable participants to engage fully in the project, childcare will be provided during the workshops, as well as during visits to the CCN and afternoon performances. Between 2026 and 2027, three sessions will be organised around the themes: “Reconnecting with Yourself,” “Finding Your Voice,” and “Finding Joy and Building Confidence.”

Alongside this, Lonely Club takes the form of a choreographed concert initiated by Chaillot – Théâtre national de la Danse and reimagined specifically for the Grand Palais. The creation brings together two major figures from the French artistic scene: Eddy de Pretto and Maud Le Pladec. Together, they explore solitude, intensity and collective pulse in a hybrid form where live music and choreography respond to one another.

With Lonely Club, the stage becomes a space of shared vibration, where bodies and voices come together to create a deeply sensory collective experience. Conceived for the Grand Palais, the project embodies a strong artistic ambition: to bring contemporary dance and popular music into dialogue through a theatrical form that is accessible, intense and unifying.

By supporting Danser pour soi & Lonely Club, the Francis Kurkdjian Endowment Fund is supporting the CCN – Ballet de Lorraine in this dual endeavour, helping to establish dance as a means of reclaiming ownership of the body, fostering self-esteem and confidence, and rediscovering the pleasure of movement.
