With Come Out, Olivier Dubois presents a choreographic manifesto rooted in a legacy of struggle, memory and resistance. The work draws on a specific historical event: the 1966 Harlem riots, during which several young African Americans were beaten and wrongfully convicted.

The creation takes inspiration from Come Out by Steve Reich, a musical work built around the testimony of a young man who was subjected to this violence. The repeated phrase, fragmented and transformed through Reich’s composition, becomes the starting point for a choreographic exploration of injury, resilience and rising again. Through movement, Olivier Dubois examines what remains in the body after trauma: memory, anger, vital force and the possibility of a collective struggle.

Hypnotic and obsessive, Come Out distorts reality to unleash a collective energy. The piece does not simply seek to represent a story, but to make its tensions physically felt. It invites each spectator to reflect on their own relationship to struggle, justice and the power of the body when it becomes a space of resistance.

Alongside this creation, the company is developing Come In, a simplified and accessible version of Come Out, conceived as a tool for outreach and transmission. Intended for amateur groups of all ages and backgrounds, Come In makes the demands of contemporary dance accessible while opening the creative process to participants from outside the professional dance world.

This dual project brings together choreographic creation and community engagement. It creates a dialogue between professional performers, amateurs and local communities in Paris, Pantin and Romainville. The transmission activities will culminate in presentations in public spaces, affirming dance as a shared, accessible and profoundly collective gesture.

From November 2026: the production will embark on a nationwide tour.
